Your privacy matters to us. This page explains what information PolyTranslators collects when you use the site, how we use it, and what choices you have.

What We Collect

When you use the translator, we collect minimal technical data:

  • Translation logs: We record anonymous logs of translations — the source and target language, character count, and whether the translation succeeded. These logs are never linked to you personally. We do not store the text you translate.
  • IP address (hashed): We use a hashed (anonymized) version of your IP address for rate limiting only — to prevent abuse of the translation service. We cannot reverse this hash to identify you.
  • Contact form data: If you send us a message via the contact form, we store your name, email, and message so we can reply.

What We Don't Collect

  • We do not require you to create an account or provide any personal information to use the translator.
  • We do not store, read, or retain the text you submit for translation.
  • We do not sell your data to anyone, ever.
  • We do not show targeted advertising.

Cookies

We use a single session cookie to maintain your translator settings (dark/light mode preference). We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.

If you use Google Analytics (enabled on some configurations of this site), Google's privacy policy applies. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out browser add-on.

Third-Party Services

Translations are processed by Google's Gemini AI. Your input text is sent to Google's API for translation. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for how they handle API data.

The site may be served through Cloudflare for performance and security. Cloudflare may process your connection data as per their privacy policy.

Data Retention

Anonymous translation logs are automatically deleted after 30 days. Contact form submissions are retained until responded to and then deleted within 90 days.

Your Rights

Since we don't hold personal data tied to you (no accounts, no user profiles), most data rights requests won't be applicable. However, if you submitted a contact form message and want it removed, email us and we'll delete it promptly.
